Modern Wealth Management is seeking an experienced Head of IT to be responsible for overseeing all IT processes, systems, infrastructure, operations, and vendor relationships, ensuring the alignment of IT strategies with business goals to drive operational excellence and innovation across the organization.
As the Head of IT, the chosen candidate will be responsible for providing tactical leadership and direction on the technology (information technology governance and security, architecture, development and delivery, data, infrastructure, portfolio management, and quality assurance) and project management affairs for the firm. The role will direct and collaborate on products, services, and improvement initiatives across the organization for commercial success.
A key function of the role will be to ensure the firm has proper systems, infrastructure, and technical architecture to support its continued growth and scalability while providing a secure and compliant environment for all users. The key to success for the right candidate will be in effectively working across multiple departments within the organization, identifying areas where improvements are needed, and selecting emerging technologies that empower the firm. This person will be accountable for supporting IT investments and initiatives through innovative use of technology and tight alignment with business strategies and operational processes.
Primary Duties:
- Develop and implement comprehensive IT strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the company’s technology infrastructure (including computers, networks, and telephony) is efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives as well as regulatory requirements.
- Build, develop, and lead the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in delivering technology solutions.
- Oversee the management, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring they support business operations effectively.
- Support the acquisitive growth of the firm through ongoing transition and decommissioning of legacy acquired IT systems.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and external technology vendors, managing vendor contracts and relationships to ensure service levels and cost efficiency.
- Conduct regular assessments of IT risk, including cybersecurity, data privacy, and system vulnerabilities, and implement controls to mitigate these risks through testing and audits. Implement controls to effectively mitigate these risks.
- Monitor emerging trends in technology and provide recommendations to senior management on new solutions or updates to current systems that could benefit the company.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and develop IT solutions that enhance operational processes and drive business growth.
- Lead the planning and execution of major IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Manage organizational change effectively as new technologies are adopted.
- Establish and maintain business continuity protocols, ensuring relevant stakeholders are trained and monitoring is in place.
- Collaborate with the Training team to provide IT training to employees, ensuring they are equipped to use technology systems effectively and efficiently.
- Stay informed of developments in the IT industry, including regulatory changes, and ensure compliance with relevant IT standards and regulations.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience in IT management, with a strong background in IT strategy, systems management, IT support, project management and vendor relationships.
- Experience in financial services tech (RIA, B/D, and/or Bank) for multi-office firms.
- Expertise with MS365 including Teams, Entra, and SharePoint.
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure (SAAS, licensing) and services in a financial services environment is preferred.
- Preference for experience with Orion, Salesforce, and financial planning wealth-tech systems with ability to support data/integration needs the firm’s client and advisor experience teams.
